Individual Self-Care Assessments

Any new undertaking requires obtaining a baseline. Where are you in the process of making self-care a priority? How urgent is it that you practice good self-care in your specific situation or chosen career?

The Children’s Wellness Coalition recommends using the “Self-Care Assessment Worksheet” first published in 1996 workbook on vicarious traumatization,”Transforming the Pain,” by Karen W. Saakvitnethor and Laurie Anne Pearlman. The Self-Care Assessment Worksheet does a great job of both summarizing key self-care concepts, as well as dividing its checklist into the different facets of normal, everyday life by providing you a “snapshot” of where you are, as well as what areas of your life you should consider applying self-care practices to.
